Small exporting firms’ choice of exchange mode in international marketing channels for perishable products: A contingency approach

This study investigates how small, resource-constrained firms identify international marketing strategies for perishable products. Although of products poses challenges the exporter, many small companies manage to survive and thrive on an business arena. Over past decades, there has been a growing interest in design their channels. However, little is known about conditions leading choice particular exchange modality. Drawing from contingency framework, we investigate role firm-specific industry-related factors mode among exporters. Based insights Norwegian seafood industry, introduce framework develop typology modalities. We suggest that exporters are inclined engage succession transactional exchanges. offer propositions alternative modalities contingent upon firm industry factors.
